4 great restaurants with outdoor dining on the UWS (NYC Edition)

It’s a struggle finding a restaurant with good outdoor space in times of COVID. So here are some recommendations of restaurants with good outdoor dining on the Upper West Side.

El Mitote

What I had

Food

Carnitas Taco $15

Drink

Frozen Margarita $14

Review:

I went on a Friday night and sat outdoors, the restaurant was busy and the tables were apart respecting social distancing. The food was great, and the margarita was even better. The carnitas tacos were pretty filled and the dishes were big enough to share. The only thing I would’ve changed was adding a little more salt to the tacos. The margarita was also a good size and was served on a mason jar which lasted me all night.

The atmosphere and the service were good, so I would recommend this place for a dinner date.

Harvest Kitchen

What I had

Food

Crispy Calamari $13

Grilled Whole Wheat – Molasses Flat Bread $15

Drink

Prosecco $15

Review:

This place is amazing and the food is healthy. I went here for my birthday and left really happy with the food, service, and atmosphere.

The crispy calamari was the right level of crisp. It came with tartar sauce and a sweet sauce so we could choose how we wanted to accompany each bite. Furthermore, pairing the prosecco with the calamari gives each bite a different dimension as the bubbles cleanse your palate from the fried calamari, making each bite seem like a new one.

The Grilled Whole Wheat – Molasses Flat Breads were amazing, the mix of sour from the arugula, with the salty from the bread and the sweet from the fig jam, makes each bite taste exquisite.

I would definitely recommend going here. The atmosphere is amazing, there is a good music selection, it’s clean, and very spacious. We were so comfortable that we stayed until closing. I would recommend this place for a date or a dinner with friends.

Pappardella

What I had

Food

Carpaccio Di Manzo $18

Orecchiette Baresi $21

Drink

Coke $3

Cappuccino $4.50

Review:

We started with the Carpaccio Di Manzo, a cold starter that mixed the sourness of the arugula, with the salty of the wagyu beef tenderloin and the Parmigiano. It tasted like heaven. If I could have I would’ve had two of these.

Then we moved on to the Orecchiette Baresi which is a small round pasta dish mixed with salty italian sausage, sweet sun-dried tomatoes, and the warmth of garlic and olive oil. The pesto adds character and the broccoli brings texture and absorbs the flavors, making every bite delicious. To finish such an elaborate yet simple meal, we ordered coffee as a digestif.

The service was great, and the music made us feel like we were eating outdoors in an Italian cafe. This is the kind of place where you can go with friends, family or a significant other. I am definitely coming back.

Olympic Flame Diner

What I had

Food

Spinach, Tomato, and Mushroom Omelette $13.95

Drink

Coffee $2.25

Review:

We came here for a late brunch craving omelets and were really happy with what we got. The size of the omelets is perfect for brunch. Big enough to satisfy your cravings and leave you full for a couple of hours. It comes with potatoes and toast which is great because you can save the toast for the coffee. The coffee itself was really good. Perfect if you want to have it black or with some milk.

The service was great and fast. I will definitely come back. I recommend going with friends for brunch and ordering omelets, you will love it!
