The World is Changing: More Women in Sports

Sunday night, we all tuned in to watch the Super Bowl and it delivered. I never thought I would see Tom Brady and Gronkowski play together in the same team, let alone win a Super Bowl together… again!

Yet, the most amazing thing about this Super Bowl was the number of women who took the field. They were Sarah Thomas (@globalathleteesco), a referee; Lori Locust, an assistant coach; and Maral Javadifar (@maraljavadifar), a strength and conditioning coach.

This is a milestone for women in sports as this number breaks the record for women who have taken the field in an NFL game. While this is a good first step for women in the sports industry, there is still a long way to go.

In light of Sunday night’s events, and in the spirit of uplifting more women, here are the social media accounts of some of the other women who play an important role in the NFL. While the list is a little bit longer, these are the ones that have open Instagram accounts you can follow and learn more about!

Kim Pegula (@KimPegula)

Kim is the Owner/ President of both the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres. She also owns her own company called Pegula Sports and Entertainment.

Charlotte Jones (@cjonesanderson)

Charlotte is the Executive Vice President and CBO of the Dallas Cowboys, the chair of the NFL Foundation, and of the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation.

Hannah Gordon (@hannahgordon510)

Hannah is the Chief Administration Officer and the General Counsel of the 49ers and she is also an author.

While the number of women in the sports industry is slowly increasing, there is still a lot to be done. So, if you are interested in learning more, here are some more women empowerment accounts to follow:
